Fayoum & Wadi El Rayan
الفيوم ووادي الريان
Lakes, waterfalls and desert protected areas within easy reach of Cairo.
The Fayoum depression, south-west of Cairo, combines farmland, Lake Qarun and protected desert. In the Wadi El Rayan protected area, two lakes are joined by small waterfalls, a rare sight in the Egyptian desert, with dunes, springs and birdlife around them.
